The Dietary Manager certificate is 16 units and typically takes 3 semesters. 

 

How do I get certified after I finish the Dietary Manager program at SRJC?

1-Register online for the Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) exam.  https://www.cbdmonline.org/get-certified/register

How much does it cost?

The program cost at SRJC is approximately $2000.  Costs to get a credential as a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) are $400 for the Exam and $99 annual membership fee to Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals.  Grants are available to cover the costs of the Exam. 

 

What career opportunities are there for a Certified Dietary Manager?

CDMs work together with Dietetic Technicians (NDTR) and Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) to provide quality nutritional care in a variety of non-commercial settings and perform a myriad of specialized tasks and roles within a foodservice operation.

CDMs are experts at managing foodservice operations and ensuring food safety. They are responsible for implementation of menus, foodservice purchasing, and food preparation.  They work in hospitals, health care centers, long term care facilities, correctional facilities, schools and much more. 

Starting salaries range from $55,000-65,000/year.
